（句意：太阳既是光和热的源头，也是持续的原子粒流——也就是我们所知的太阳风暴——的源头。）
所以说，as well as和in addition to的区别在于：as well as前后可接的形式远多于后者！
例如：

博物馆不仅要有教育性还且还要有娱乐性。
Electric energy can be changed into light energy as well as into sound energy.（介词词组）
电能既可以被转变成声能，又可以被转变成光能。

除此之外，并列两个（代）名词或动名词，没有什么区别。
