1. 动名词与不定式和mean
Mean to do=intend to do有意要做；故意做……
I mean to leave that meeting with a new contract.
我想在这次会晤中签一个新的合同。
Mean doing意味着做某事
The new agreement means accepting lower wages.
新的协议意味着接受更低的薪水。
注：类似可加doing和to do、意义不同的动词还有Regret doing后悔（做过）；
regret to do遗憾地（要做）
Forget/remember doing忘记/记得（曾做过）；
Forget/remember to do忘记/记得（去做）
Stop doing停止（正在做的事）
Stop to do停下来开始（做另一件事）
Go on doing继续（正在做的事）
Go on to do继续（做另一件事）
2. 被动语态、主动语态和mean
Be meant to do：有责任（be responsible for）；注定要……；本意想要……。如：
You were meant to keep the children out of trouble.
你的责任就是让孩子们远离麻烦。
It was meant to be an apology but it only made her angry.
原本是想道歉，结果却惹恼了她。
Oh well – it was just not meant to be.
算了吧，命该如此。
Be meant for：为……而设计、为了（be intended or designed for）；
适合……（be suitable for）
These books are not meant for primary school students.
这些书不是写给小学生的。
I don’t think she’s meant to be a teacher.

4. 双宾语、复合宾语和mean
Mean sb. sth. 对某人有……的意图
